Malaria
is the ultimate "stealer of dreams." Just imagine watching
your beautiful newborn baby growing and becoming a young child, only
to have him or her die from malaria! Unfortunately, that happens to
over 1 million parents living in Africa each year! Their dream of having
their child grow up to be a productive member of their society is stolen
away, often at short notice, by the parasite that causes malaria, Plasmodium
falciparum.
It
is estimated that at least 1 million children under the age of five
years die each year in sub-Saharan Africa from malaria alone - and this
does not include the millions more that suffer significantly from the
disease, but do not die! Our organization strives to carry out research
projects and training in the hope that some day, God willing, these
dreams will not be stolen!
