Philip Thuma, M.D., Board Certified Pediatrician - serves as P.I. or coordinator for most studies conducted at the Institute. He spends 3 - 6 months per year on site, depending on the protocols that are being run.

Victor Gordeuk, M.D., Board Certified Hematologist and Professor of Medicine at Howard University, Washington, D.C. USA - assists on study protocols as a clinician and in research study design and evaluation. He is available up to three months per year to work on site.

Godfrey Biemba, M.B.Ch.B., currently General Secretary of the Churches Hospital Association of Zambia, serves as a consultant for most malaria research projects, and has actively worked on projects in the past.

Lottie Hachaambwa, M.B.Ch.B., a staff physician at Macha Hospital, assists with projects and is available to give 15% of his time for malaria research.

Stenford Zulu, Senior Clinical Officer - serves as Manager for Clinical Care at the hospital and is the on-site project manager for research studies and acting deputy director of the MMRI - Zambia office. He has been involved in research projects for over 10 years, and knows the community extremely well, allowing for excellent follow-up of study participants.

Gracious Simwanza, Senior Lab Technologist - works as head of the hospital lab and coordinates the lab-related aspects of malaria research studies. He is a hard-working and consistent person.

Rodgers Moono, Lab Technician - assists in the lab with malaria research related studies

Abraham M'hango, Pharmacist, (M.Sc. (Honors), is in charge of the hospital pharmacy and assists with malaria research projects.

Lawrence Mweetwa, Pharmacy Technician - assists in pharmacy aspects of malaria studies.

Sunday Chali - Administrative Assistant and Office Manager - coordinates overall running of the research office and supervises data entry.

Marjorie Hamahuwa - assists in research office with Secretarial/Data Entry support.

In addition to the above team members who have many years of experience in conducting malaria studies under Good Clinical Practice (GCP), other individual nurses and clinical officers assist in monitoring patients during trials.
